It's [hopefully] well-known by now that major airlines and large cargo carriers, outside your flight experience and background, use auxiliary data points in selecting candidates to interview for pilot positions at their companies. Volunteer experience is heavily valued by airlines (and no, apparently 'volunteering for military service' does not qualify ).
So, RTAG, for those looking to make an impact in their community and looking to bolster their experience, I wanted to poll you all on the following: what organizations and/or volunteer experience opportunities exist that are also compatible with a junior FO or junior CA schedule?
Post any organizations you support or unique volunteering opportunities that you're part of or familiar with. Extra points for those that are aware of organizations supported by any of the major carriers.
Does RTAGing count?
Sure does. In a legal sense we are just as legitimate as OBAP, WAI, NGPA, etc. Recommend volunteering not even just for a resume builder. Makes ya feel good and you make a difference in other people’s lives.
Also look up Team Rubicon particularly with the Hurricanes as of late. They are a disaster relief non-profit organization that is made up of mostly veterans.
